Napplejack 'n' Rainbow Crash by JustDayside Napplejack 'n' Rainbow Crash by JustDayside
Except "Crash" like, "Hey, I'm gonna go crash for a bit."

Here's something you probably didn't know about me; I really love shipping! Even if it's just friendshipping. Which is basically a way to say, "I really love when people relate to other people." AJ & RD have always had little interactions throughout the show that feel so natural and fun, I love seein' 'em onscreen together.

I kinda feel bad for sayin it since it's already been mentioned a few times, but Dashie's got one hell of an Indian burn. Like, that gorilla really wrung her arm good, left fingerprints and all. XD

I think it might be because you're trying to define calf/forearm muscles, and horses don't really have those (visibly, of course). But if you cut those out, then you'd lose the chunky pony feel. Hmm..I feel that the highlight of the MLP style is the clean and simple form. And the highlight of your style here, I believe, is muscle, joint, and hoof definition. So in my opinion, that should be where the bulk of the detail should be.

Your silhouette is defining a lot of the highlights, actually. Like with Dashie's butt there, the subtle hump around the cutie mark divides the thighs from the glutes nicely, and with AJ's front leg the shoulder and knobby knee are defined in one clean line. Some of the fold/crease lines on the inside of the joints and the detail at the base of the ears seem a bit unnecessary, and I think non-silhouette muscle definition should be left to the larger groups like the thighs/shoulders/neck etc.

So my two cents for the day is to conserve detail and save it for where it's really needed. 'Cuase you don't wanna travel through the uncanny valley after sundown.

Yeah, anyway, that aside I think the pose is super adorable! ^3^
I've never been much for shipping. It doesn't make sense to me why someone would choose a favourite best friend. Ship them all I say! I guess if you were to combine everyone's ideal pairing, it'd just default to friendshipping anyway. The one true OTP! And so it has been decided.

I like the lines, how'd ya do it? Pen tool I'm guessing? I can never get the pen tool to do what I want it to. And my hand isn't steady enough to make those kinda lines with the brush. DX Makes me want to make my own lineart program. (I'm already programming it in my mind hee hee)

Hahah, stupid gorillas, can't keep their hands to themselves. XD XD Yeah, I definitely overdid it on the arms, but I had fun with the lines anyways. I definitely put muscles that don't exist on them, like the gastrocnemius-like muscle on AJ's forelimb. That should just be a bunch of tendons. But I like round shapes so much! hahah. I think if I actually want to go into heavy detail with ponies I kinda need to render them fully, without lines. Otherwise, like you say, it gets a little line heavy.

This is one of those rare times that I actually put more than a half second of thought into posing and interaction an' stuff (hopefully I'll be doing that far more in the future), so I'm glad some of my choices went noticed! :D

There's never any signs that say, "You are now entering the uncanny valley," they should really give more warning of that place. :\

Hahah, ship pairings, then ship pairings of those pairings, until you just ship the entire world on itself. Good plan for world peace. XD Like I said, what it boils down to for me is I like intimate interaction, whether it's on a friendship level or something more personal. People are so interesting, they can only get more interesting when you put another one next to them, hahah.

Actually, lines were just brush tool -- steadiness is actually the opposite of what seems to be required, hahah. If you do the lines wild and quick then it lays down super smooth. The con of that, of course, is that I tend to ctrl+z until I get *just* the line I want. And that really increases production time. I imagine I'll get faster as I keep doing it, though. More sensitive to how I'm moving my arm an' such.

An' dooeeet, make a whole suite of Hafunui brand art programs, drive Adobe out of business. XD

Sometimes uncanny valley creatures are funny. Like with Spongebob or Flapjack and shows like that they have those creepy, painted, closeup shots. They're my favourite parts ha ha.

I like intimate interactions too. My only problem is that in today's society, it also implies sexual interactions. I mean, when person A says they slept with person B, they probably don't mean that they simply fell unconscious next to each other for about 9 hours. It's like you can't cuddle up to someone without it turning into genital fun time. Probably doesn't help the homophobia issue too much. And kinda makes your picture NSFW . Can't argue that humans are interesting though, but they make me feel like an alien sometimes ha ha.

Oh ok, brush tool eh? In Sai you draw a line with the brush, but it then gets converted to a vector. Just like flash's line tool. Then you can click 'n drag the control points to move them or change the pressure/size. It's really cool.

Ha ha, I figure my programs would only amount to a poor man's version of Adobe at best XD. I'd like to make an animation tool, 'cause there aren't too many out there. I wonder if that means it'll be very difficult to do, lol.

Their hooves look like Granny Smith's: old and wrinkled.

Friendshipping. I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE! Honestly I just think everyone should be friends with everyone and nothing would go wrong.

Hahah, definitely one way to do it! Life'd be pretty great if everyone was best friends. X3

Yeah. Characters can have loads of fun even when they're not in a relationship.
